Emergency care
Emergency care is the treatment of unexpected, severe medical injuries or infections. It is typically delivered in an emergency room or an ambulance. Our emergency medicine physicians stabilize your condition as quickly as possible to prepare you for the next step of care or discharge.

We provide treatment for various life-threatening medical conditions and symptoms, including:
- Accidents

- Complex fractures
- Head traumas
- Heart attacks
- High fevers
- Injuries to the spinal cord
- Severe abdominal pains

Emergency department services
At our freestanding emergency facilities and full-service hospitals, we use specialized triage practices designed to reduce the time it takes for you to receive a diagnosis and begin treatment.
Emergency cardiac care
We offer accredited Chest Pain Centers with Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) and Resuscitation. This distinction means we are well-equipped to care for you if you are experiencing a heart attack or cardiac event.
A heart attack is an emergent medical condition that can lead to serious damage if it isn't treated quickly. Recognizing the signs of a heart attack could save your life or someone else's life. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- Cold sweats
- Fatigue
- Lightheadedness
- Nausea
- Pain or discomfort in the jaw, neck, back, arm or shoulder
- Recurring chest pressure or pain
- Shortness of breath
- Sudden dizziness
Stroke care
Minutes matter when you are dealing with a stroke. Our certified Primary Stroke Centers provide quality of care that meets your unique needs. This accreditation recognizes our centers' commitment to following national standards and guidelines that can significantly improve outcomes for stroke. Our stroke programs draw on the expertise of neurologists, psychiatrists, physical therapists, emergency medicine physicians, stroke nurses and medical support specialists who are committed to improving all aspects of stroke care.
If you require rehabilitation after a stroke, we also offer an inpatient rehabilitation program that can help you regain independence and improve your quality of life.
Trauma care
With designated Level II and Level IV Trauma Centers, we serve our community's most critically injured members. Our specially trained medical team provides high-quality, subspecialty services, including orthopedic, cardiovascular and surgical care.
At our facilities, we provide evaluation, stabilization and diagnostic capabilities. From there, we can treat you or transfer you to a higher-level trauma center to receive the appropriate care. Our trauma physicians, specialists, nurses and support staff are available around the clock to provide specialized care for severe, life-threatening injuries, such as gunshot wounds, serious car accidents and traumatic falls.
Freestanding emergency rooms (FSERs)
We serve Texas families through our 24/7 FSERs. Staffed with emergency medicine physicians and on-call specialists, our full-service care includes access to on-site laboratory and imaging services. Most major insurance plans and Medicare are accepted.
If needed, our FSER locations can provide direct admission to one of our other facilities for further care. Direct admission by ambulance transport is quick and easy, with a continuity of care similar to what you would experience in our main campus emergency room.
