Corpus Christi Medical Center (CCMC) has been named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Spine Surgery by Healthgrades, the #1 site Americans use when searching for a doctor or hospital. This national recognition places CCMC among the top 10% of hospitals delivering superior clinical outcomes in back and neck procedures, including spinal fusion surgeries.
“This impressive accomplishment reflects the dedication and commitment of our outstanding team to providing the best care for our patients,” said David Irizarry, chief executive officer. “Our team is committed to elevating the care delivered in the Coastal Bend region through strong partnerships with our medical staff.”
In addition to this distinction, CCMC received the Healthgrades 2026 Spine Surgery Excellence Award and was recognized as a Five‑Star Recipient for Spinal Fusion. These honors underscore the hospital’s ongoing commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety and high‑quality surgical care for the Coastal Bend community.
CCMC’s achievements are based solely on what matters most: patient outcomes. Each year, Healthgrades evaluates risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for over 30 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide to identify top hospitals in key specialty areas, including spine surgery.
Dr. Juan Ramirez, MD, chief of medical staff, emphasized the significance of the recognition. “Being named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Spine Surgery highlights the exceptional skill and compassion of our clinical teams,” he said. “Our patients entrust us with their most complex procedures, and this award affirms the quality outcomes we strive to deliver every day.”
CCMC continues to advance neurointerventional care for the Coastal Bend region. With the addition of dedicated neurointerventional specialists, a growing range of minimally invasive procedures is available for complex brain and spine conditions. Beyond essential services, patients have access to an expanded array of lifesaving treatments for challenging neurological diseases. To support services, CCMC has also made significant investments in technology and infrastructure, including a new Interventional Radiology Lab equipped with a state‑of‑the‑art bi‑plane system. This progress, paired with CCMC’s recent national designation, further underscores the hospital’s commitment to delivering top‑tier outcomes for patients across the region.
